Dan Pasternak

Dan established Cambia (Italian for change) Records in 1989 after his own group, Vital Signs, disbanded. Vital Signs is most remembered for their hit song “The Boys and the Girls are Doing It” which appeared in the movie, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

Vital Signs also toured with Tina Turner, Eric Martin, Joan Jett, Journey, and many other name groups during the 80s. “It’s an experience everyone should have,” Dan says. But behind the scenes is where Dan always longed to be, producing music.

Dan has a thirst for technology. He couples that passion with his passion for piano and keyboard. Those two skills are a natural fit for a producer. Under CAMBIA he produced the now the popular rap group, Three Way Funk … he also produced country artist, Deann Stanley, R and B artist, Nico Dotti, and a string of local rock groups. Within a short time his production and composition skills became notable in the San Francisco Bay Area and he became sought after for his skills by other industry professionals.

In early 1993 Dan’s focus turned to underscore music for television. At that time he started Pro Tunes and began writing and producing original compositions for children’s programs, commercials, jingles and films. He has been writing, producing and making his living as a composer/producer since then.

Dan is a classically trained pianist and also plays jazz. His style is blend of pop, funk, and rock, sprinkled with jazz. His ability to call on all these styles give him the ability to match the right sound and feel to the video picture. This is key in making him a success in the sound to video industry.

Now entering his 15th year as a composer -producer, Dan has worked on hundreds of projects. He never misses a deadline. He always works with the client to give them exactly what they need. He understands the needs of the client and their wishes are always the number one concern.
